Grants ranging from $2,000 to $7,000 to Oregon nonprofit organizations, agencies, and tribes for programs that benefit Native American communities in Lincoln, Coos, Curry, Lane, and Douglas Counties. Funding is intended for programs in the areas of health, education, the arts, public safety, problem gambling, environment, cultural activities, and historic preservation. Statewide projects will also be considered if they are specifically important to Native Americans in Oregon, or if they have statewide impact.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The Three Rivers Foundation does not have minimum or maximum grant limitations. However, it is anticipated that the average award from the Three Rivers Foundation will be between $2,000 and $7,000.

Term of Contract:

The Three Rivers Foundation does not provide multi-year grants. Therefore, the project period for the grant funded program/project will generally be limited to a twelve-month period.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Three Rivers Foundation invites applications from the following organizations:
- 501(c)(3) organizations that are located in Coos, Lane, Douglas, Curry, or Lincoln County; or
- 501(c)(3) organizations located in Oregon seeking grant support for projects specifically targeting Coos, Lane, Douglas, Curry, or Lincoln County; or
- 501(c)(3) organizations located in Oregon seeking grant support for projects specifically important to Native American populations in Oregon; or
- 501(c)(3) organizations located in Oregon seeking grant support for projects that have a “statewide” impact; or
- Federally recognized tribes located in Oregon; or
- Governmental organizations located in Coos, Lane, Douglas, Curry, or Lincoln County.

Geographic Considerations: The Three Rivers Foundation funds projects whose primary impact is focused on the following geographic areas:
- The ancestral homeland of the Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians, including Coos, Lane, Douglas, Curry, and Lincoln Counties.
- The state of Oregon (if the project is specifically important to Native Americans in Oregon); or
- The state of Oregon (if the project has a “statewide” impact.)

The Foundation will not consider funding proposals for the following types of projects, programs, or organizations:
- Organizations who have not closed out their previous Three Rivers Foundation grant.
- Grants requesting funding commitments from the Three Rivers Foundation that extend beyond a single year.
- Preexisting obligations or debt retirement.
- Construction projects where applicant does not have site control.
- Organizations that do not meet the geographic or organizational eligibility requirements of the Three Rivers Foundation.
- Projects that propagandize or attempt to influence elections.
- Organizations that have not adopted a non-discrimination policy.
- Faith-based organizations which proselytize or otherwise restrict participation in the proposed program/project to adherents of their faith.
- Pass-through funding where an eligible applicant will pass the funds on to an organization that is not otherwise eligible to apply for funding from the Three Rivers Foundation.

Pre-Application Information:

Grant Cycle 2019/2020 will begin December 1, 2019 and run through December 31, 2019.

Prior to the Trustees meeting the Three Rivers Foundation may contact your organization for additional information. Due to the short timeline between the application deadline and the Trustees meeting your prompt reply will be appreciated.

The Three Rivers Foundation will hold a luncheon celebration in February, exact date to be determined that year. At the Luncheon checks will be presented for most awardees. While all awardees are encouraged to attend, the Trustees may have attached conditions (such as matching funds be raised) to some awards that may delay the issue of checks for some grants.
