Description:

Request a Grant Writer

Opportunity for USA, Canada, and Australia K-12 public and private school educators to participate in a competition for programs that help students prepare for the future. Winners will receive educational products and services. Eligible applicants are school administrators, special teachers (such as art or music teachers), technology specialists, PTAs, and media specialists/librarians.

Categories of winners:

  • Ten People's Choice Winners: To reward getting the word out about an incredible program, the 10 videos that receive the most votes with $5,000 in Follett products and services.
  • Nine Semi-Finalists: In addition, nine Semi-Finalists will be chosen - three in the elementary, three in middle and three in the high school category - and receive $15,000 in Follett products and services. Those scores are determined by the judges' rubric (80% of overall score) and the number of votes received (20% of overall score). Semi-Finalists are not eligible for the People's Choice award, even if they have the highest number of votes.
  • One Grand-Prize Winner: Out of the nine Semi-Finalists, a Grand-Prize winner will be selected from the judges' rubric score alone to receive an additional $15,000, for a total of $30,000 in Follett Products and services.

Programs should address the following criteria:

  • Critical thinking
  • Communication
  • Creativity
  • Collaboration between students, among educators, in real-life engagement with the industry or your community, or changing dynamics between student and educator

Step 1: Explain how your program engages students in your library or classroom when you write your online application. Then, prepare a 3-5 minute video promoting your program, and submit it.

Step 2: Vote and Promote. The team of judges examine all submissions and determines which stand above the rest. But that's only part of the final score — the rest is based on the number of votes your video receives. Ask your school community to vote!

Step 3: Watch and Win. Winners will be chosen based on a combination of judges' scores and the highest number of votes from there.
