Grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 to Oregon, Missouri, and West Virginia nonprofit organizations to promote the welfare of children and families, and to enhance public safety in the funding source’s communities. Programs and projects must benefit the residents of Jackson and Josephine Counties, Oregon; Barry County, Missouri; and Cabell County, West Virginia.

The Foundation’s mission is to benefit the welfare of children and families and to support public safety.

Foundation Vision:

1) Children and families receive the help they need to overcome abuse, addiction, and poverty so they can have a brighter future.

2) Public safety providers have the skills and equipment needed to protect and save lives.

3) Families are provided a solid foundation through faith-based programs.

The Foundation awards grants in four strategic areas:
-Faith Based Programs
-Human Services
-Other Charitable Causes
-Public Safety
-Youth Enrichment

The Chaney Family Foundation will not accept proposals requesting more than $10,000 or less than $1,000. The average grant award is $7,000.

Grant applications will be accepted only from tax-exempt agencies. No grants to individuals will be made. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that their organization is recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization before submitting an application.

Previously successful grant applicants are eligible to apply for funding every 12 months. Example: If you received a grant in the Spring of 2007, you are eligible to re-apply in Spring of 2008.

Activities Not Eligible for Funding:
-Endowments or annual fund drives
-Indirect or overhead expenses
-Sponsorship of fundraising events
-Visual and performing arts programs
-Property acquisition

The Foundation has a spring and a fall grant cycle. Applications are due on or before January 31st and July 31st. Final grant decisions will be announced 9-12 weeks after each deadline.

The window of opportunity to apply for the Spring grant cycle is November - January. The window of opportunity to apply for the Fall grant cycle is May - July.

The next application deadline is July 31, 2017.
