Grants of up to $20,000 to Oregon nonprofit organizations and public entities in eligible locations to address critical needs and social disparities in the wake of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis. Funding is intended to support both immediate basic needs and efforts to address systemic inequities that contribute to health, education, and economic disparities throughout Lane County.

Intended outcomes:
  • Address community recovery needs, including access to safe and affordable housing; access to affordable healthy food; access to early childhood development and safe/nurturing environments; and access to physical, behavioral, mental, and oral health care. 
  • Advance efforts to create more equitable outcomes for priority populations, including but not limited, to civic engagement, voter registration, policy change, advocacy, and other strategic efforts. 
For this funding opportunity, United Way of Lane County will prioritize proposals that serve the following communities:
  • American Indian/ Alaska Native (AI/AN), Asian, Black, Latinx, Multiracial, and Hawaiian/Pacific Islander populations
  • Rural areas of Lane County
  • Under-represented and/or underserved populations including, but not limited to people living with physical and cognitive disabilities and LGBTQ+ people
  • ALICE families (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), or families navigating poverty.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grants up to $20,00 will be awarded to eligible organizations.

Term of Contract:

The award period will be August 1, 2020, through June 30, 2021.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must provide services in Lane County, Oregon, have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, be classified as a public entity, or have a qualified fiscal sponsor (i.e. a sponsoring tax-exempt organization).

For this funding opportunity, United Way of Lane County will prioritize proposals from organizations or coalitions led by people of color (i.e. staff and board leadership), as well as organizations grounded in the communities they seek to serve (i.e. representation on board/staff leadership, active participation in decision making).
