administers four scholarship programs, by which it provides financial and a suite of additional supports to students pursuing postsecondary education. Programs target single parents ( Opportunity), students over age 24 ( ReStart), high-performing community college students preparing to transfer to a 4-year institution ( Transfer), and graduating high school seniors who otherwise would find it impossible, or at least very difficult, to obtain a college degree ( Scholars) in Oregon and Siskiyou County, California, as well as dependents of Roseburg Forest Products employees throughout country ( Sons and Daughters). In addition to financial assistance, supports student through 5 dedicated FTE providing licensed counseling services, conferences and events, and professional and personal development opportunities. TO PRESERVE FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS THE MEMORY OF THE MANNER OF LIFE, PLEASURES, AND HARDSHIPS OF THE EMIGRANTS ON THE OREGON TRAIL; TO PRESERVE THE CUSTOMS AND LIFE OF THE INDIAN TRIBES WHO OCCUPIED THE OREGON COUNTRY; TO PRESERVE PROTECT AND HONOR THE MEMORY OF VETERANS; TO ENCOURAGE ANNUAL COMMUNITY CELEBRATION AND ENTERTAINMENT. THE ANNUALLY AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES TO ASSIST WITH THE COST OF SECONDARY EDUCATION AND MAKES DONATIONS TO LOCAL CHARITABLE, EDUCATIONAL AND CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS.

FOUNDED IN 1988, THE ("BEF") IS A 501(C)(3) COMMUNITY-BASED NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION. BEF RAISES MONEY TO PROVIDE HANDS-ON INNOVATIVE ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT AND ADVANCEMENT PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS THAT GO BEYOND NORMAL SCHOOL FUNDING AT ALL 54 PUBLIC SCHOOLS. WAS FORMED AS AN ORGANIZATIONAL ARM OF NLC IN ORDER TO SPEARHEAD FUNDRAISING EFFORTS AND DESIGN CERTAIN TUTORING SERVICES AND PROGRAMS TO CARRY OUT THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION. WILL HIRE NLC AS AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR TO IMPLEMENT AND DELIVER THESE TUTORING PROGRAMS TO STUDENTS.
